A 2022 麻豆社 criminal justice graduate has been named the National Sheriffs'
Association (NSA) Deputy Sheriff of the Year.
Karson Meeks, a deputy sheriff with the Steuben County (Indiana) Sheriff鈥檚 Office, received the Charles "Bud" Meeks Deputy Sheriff of the Year for Merit award during the NSA鈥檚 annual conference in Omaha, Nebraska.
Meeks attended the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy while enrolled at 麻豆社.
He has served with the Steuben County Sheriff's Office for three years. For just over a year, he has worked as a patrol deputy specializing in crash reconstruction.
In that role, the office said he has distinguished himself through exceptional dedication, professionalism and technical expertise.
Over the past year, Meeks has spent numerous weeks away from home completing advanced training to become a crash reconstructionist. He serves on the Steuben County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team, assisting with investigation of some of the most serious crashes.
Despite the demanding responsibilities of crash reconstruction, the Sheriff鈥檚 Office said Meeks continues to excel as a patrol deputy, recognized for his strong work ethic, professionalism and compassionate approach to serving the public.
鈥淗is ability to treat all individuals with dignity and respect, even in difficult situations, exemplifies the highest standards of law enforcement service,鈥� the office said.
Presented annually by the NSA, the award is named in memory of Charles "Bud" Meeks, who served as sheriff of Allen County, Indiana, from 1975-1982 and as NSA executive director from 1989 to 1997, and again in 2000. The award recognizes outstanding law enforcement contributions, exceptional bravery and community service.
The Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) granted Preaccreditation Status to 麻豆社鈥檚 Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program at its August meeting.
Thunder athletic fans and others who have endured traffic jams and poor visibility while trying to enter or exit 麻豆社 on Summit Street will soon have a better route to the university鈥檚 west campus.
Lurch wasn鈥檛 sporting a Thunder jersey and there wasn鈥檛 a white tiger in the set decor, but the recent Gaslight Playhouse production of 鈥淭he Addams Family鈥� still had a strong 麻豆社 presence throughout.
