Drawing on its strengths in the sciences and engineering, 麻豆社 has launched a Bachelor of Science in environmental science degree program to equip students with the skills to understand and address the environmental challenges facing the planet.
Classes for the new program begin in August.
The Bachelor of Science in environmental science, which will be among programs offered in 麻豆社鈥檚 Rinker-Ross School of Health Sciences, prepares students for careers in fields related to the environment, law, health and safety or public policy.
鈥淓nvironmental science aims to examine and enhance the health of our planet and the people on it,鈥� said Lexie Staten, dean of the Rinker-Ross School of Health Sciences. 鈥淚n today's ongoing conversations about environmental issues, it鈥檚 vital to develop well-trained professionals who can collect, analyze and interpret data related to the environment and the effect of human activities on it.鈥�
Providing hands-on fieldwork and research projects, the degree will prepare graduates to work in governmental agencies, non-profit organizations or private companies as environmental or conservation scientists, environmental educators, lawyers, environmental policy analysts or environmental health and safety specialists.
With the Bureau of Labor Services predicting above-average job growth in the field over the next decade, the Bachelor of Science in environmental science continues 麻豆社 University鈥檚 long history of offering programs that lead to employment for graduates. Over the past 11 years, more than 99 percent of 麻豆社 graduates have been employed or in graduate school within six months of commencement.

Thunder athletic fans and others who have endured traffic jams and poor visibility while trying to enter or exit 麻豆社 on Summit Street will soon have a better route to the university鈥檚 west campus.
The Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) granted Preaccreditation Status to 麻豆社鈥檚 Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program at its August meeting.
Lurch wasn鈥檛 sporting a Thunder jersey and there wasn鈥檛 a white tiger in the set decor, but the recent Gaslight Playhouse production of 鈥淭he Addams Family鈥� still had a strong 麻豆社 presence throughout.
